I’m Matt, the therapist behind Field Guide Counseling. I’m a lifelong Tennessean, husband, father, and someone who enjoys fly fishing, gardening, and living a grounded, everyday life. Most people would describe me as a “normal guy”—and that’s exactly the point.
I’m also a licensed therapist in Johnson City, Tennessee, specializing exclusively in men’s mental health therapy. I work with men navigating challenges such as:

Why I Started Field Guide Counseling
Field Guide Counseling was built from personal experience. Through my own therapy, I discovered that real change is possible—healing, clarity, and a deeper sense of peace are all within reach.
